The Art of Enjoying Oolong Tea
Oolong tea is a semi-oxidized tea that falls between green and black tea in terms of oxidation. It offers a unique flavor profile that can range from floral and fruity to toasty and creamy. There are many varieties of oolong tea, such as Tie Guan Yin, Da Hong Pao, Formosa Oolong, and Milk Oolong, each with its own distinct taste.
Preheat the Gaiwan: Pour hot water into the gaiwan to preheat it, then discard the water.
Add Tea Leaves: Place 4 grams of oolong tea leaves into the gaiwan.
Awaken the Tea: Pour hot water (205°F/95°C) over the leaves and discard the water to open up the tea leaves.
Steep the Tea: Pour hot water into the gaiwan and steep for 15 seconds for the first infusion. Serve using a teacup.
